Age: 42 Birthdate: September 28, 1968 Location: Los Angeles
Occupation: Personal assistant to Craig Reese Class: Middle
Reincarnation: Dr. Henry Jekyll from the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Link to source: Here Abilities: They have the ability to transform into one another. Since Dr. Jekyll could change himself and become another person, so does Charlotte. The change can come suddenly and without warning. Neither one has control over the other. They both really come and go as they please. They both know that the other one is around and have come to an agreement to share the body. Basically all of her molecular structure changes and she becomes physically a new person. They do share memories however, even if they both behave differently.
Personal History: When Charlotte Case was born, there was something different about her. Her parents loved her unconditionally but they thought that she might have something wrong. She didn't respond to people the way others did. They thought perhaps she was autistic, but it turned out that Charlotte was just not interested in talking to other kids. She was more curious and liked to figure things out. Other children didn't really appeal to her, and she ignored them even in school. She just liked to be by herself. Still her parents forced her to play with other children, and so by the time she was in middle school she was a little better. Her parents took her to church, hoping that it would help with their daughter's personality. Actually Charlotte took it to heart, and she liked going even more than her parents liked taking her to it.
It wasn't until she was in middle school that she started having the dreams. She never understood them, but she knew that she was two different people. One was mean and vicious and the other was some kind of doctor. There was a potion involved. Then one day on the way to school, her abilities took over. It was like a split personality in the way that when Charlotte woke up, she didn't know where she was or what was going on. However no one had seen Charlotte. In place was another girl, with dark skin and black hair. Though Ruby didn't have a name then, she had decided school wasn't for her, skipped and went to hang out at the mall. From then on Charlotte lots periods of time all the time and didn't know how to tell anyone. Her parents took her to the church and her pastor, but he couldn't do anything for her. It was only after reading the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde that she realized just what she was.
Eventually Charley was taken to a shrink, and it was only then that the truth was revealed. Changing right in front of someone else for the first time. The shrink of course had freaked out at first, but she was a decent woman, so she helped Charley figure out what was going on. After talking to Ruby, she realized that there was something she didn't understand, but was going to help manage anyway. Ruby was given her own name and a schedule was worked out. Charley had to go to school, but when she got home, if she could sneak out, Ruby could do as she pleased. It lasted through high school, but just barely. Charley went to school completely exhausted, and she didn't know what Ruby was doing with her body.
Ruby was completely different from Charlotte. Charlotte liked to go to church and she was nice, and sweet and very innocent. Ruby was almost the opposite. It wasn't that she was a bad girl, it was just that she knew what she wanted. She liked to go and have fun. It wasn't like she was going out and doing drugs or anything like that. She was a normal teenager where Charlotte really wasn't. And she wanted more time. After high school, things were hectic. Ruby didn't want to go to college and give up all that time in class. Charlotte insisted though, and so going to college was basically her going only half the time. Somehow it was enough for her to get through college and graduate with a bachelor's in business. Though it took a long while for her to complete it all.
Upon coming out of graduate school, Charlotte got herself a job at different places through the years. Ruby had never really gone away, she was trouble. If it weren't for Ruby, Charlotte never would have had a boyfriend or had sex. Charlotte was a bit puritanical in her thinking, she wanted to be married before she had sex. Though she didn't know what Ruby was up to most of the time. It wasn't until she was 35 that they both started sharing memories with each other. Charlotte was horrified to find out what Ruby was up to, and so she decided to try and put a nip on all of her plans and keep her reigned in. They never told anyone about their dual personality, not their parents, not their friends. No one would understand. The only person who knew was the shrink they saw ages ago.
They moved into their own place. There was a time where Charlotte really liked a guy, he was sweet and they started dating. But then Charlotte started not showing up to her dates, and the guy eventually got fed up. She dated him for nine months before he finally gave up. It crushed Charlotte and from then on, she decided that she was going to thwart all of Ruby's interests. That just happened to be one Craig Reese, her boss. Several years ago Charlotte got herself a job as his assistant but they have an odd relationship. Craig wants nothing more than to corrupt Charlotte, and to get his hands on Ruby, but when Craig is around, she is always Charlotte. The Hyde to her Jekyll. He tells people that he has two assistants, so that people don't find it odd.
Really, she'd love to quit but she makes too much money. Ruby would love to quit too, in fact Ruby would love nothing better than to tame Craig, but will that ever happen? Probably not. So for now, the two share their memories and give each other their bodies when necessary, but it's becoming a bit too much for them to take. And it's quite possible that both are looking for a way to get rid of the other.
Personality: Ruby might not call herself a bad girl, but she is quite close to one. She likes to have fun, and she's nice about it. She gets along with just about everyone, and it's hard to annoy her except for Charlotte. She's energetic and on the bubbly side. She can be slightly naive which means that she gets taken advantage of. The party side of her means that she likes to go out and drink and dance and everything that people her age would do. People might label her promiscuous and self centered, and she can be. She knows what she wants, and she goes and gets it. Maybe she pushed other people aside or steps on them to get it, but she doesn't do it in a vicious way.
She genuinely likes people and doesn't mean to step on them, but herself comes first. That doesn't include Charlotte. She finds her other half too pious and self righteous. That the girl doesn't know how to have any fun, and she generally just doesn't like her. She keeps her from doing all of the fun stuff that she likes. Perhaps that's a bit of the reason that she rebels so hard. If Charlotte would just let her have some more fun, and do what she wanted then she wouldn't need to rebel so damn hard and ignore everything that Charlotte tries to do. She loves making her angry and doing things just to piss her off. Her feelings for Craig are complicated. She wants him, but is pretty sure that it is just lust and nothing more. He drives her crazy, in both a good and a bad way.
Charlotte on the other hand believes in the almighty God. She believes that people need to be saved, and that generally they're all bad. She's tough, and unrelenting and doesn't give anyone a break. The wicked must be punished, though not by her own hand. She figures that people will get what's coming to them. That doesn't mean that she doesn't judge, if not out loud then internally. She doesn't have a lot of regard for a lot of people, considering most of them sinners. Yes, she believes that she's above them all. And she can be completely cruel to people, but it's not because she means to be cruel. She just believes that in order to make people better, there has to be a lot of tough love.
She's never been in love or had sex, she doesn't drink or do drugs. And she thinks that Ruby is the worst. That the girl needs to be tied down and forced to do things that Charley decides is appropriate. Charley doesn't like to be confined and she does everything in her power to make sure that Ruby doesn't do anything appropriate. She thinks that Ruby's actions reflect on hers. Charley abhors Craig Reese for the most part, but she's connected to him. And for some reason, she agreed to work for him. Though she wishes that she could be a better person, she'll settle for making other people better. She has a temper, not like Ruby. You'd think that Ruby would be the volatile one, but it's Charley who explodes when she doesn't get what she wants. She's as self-centered as Ruby.
The two of them have that in common. Self-centeredness and the dislike of each other.
Physical Description: Charlotte is taller, blonder and comes across as much more pious. She dresses nicely, and covers everything up. She doesn't wear tanktops or anything that is above the knees. She's chaste and carries herself that way. She looks older as well. It's clear that she's in her forties, with blue eyes. She's skinny, but not as skinny as Ruby. She stands at about 5'5". She speaks matter of factly, doesn't use slang a lot. Ruby looks about ten years younger, in her early thirties. She has dark skin and brown eyes with black hair. She's taller than Charlotte by about five inches. She likes to wear tank tops and skirt and leave a lot of skin open. The way she carries herself is different as well, she's tougher and that comes across.
Preferred Body Model: Zoe Saldana (Ruby) and Naomi Watts (Charlotte) Example Images: http://www.shockya.com/news/wp-content/uploads/naomi-watts.jpg http://ewpopwatch.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/zoe-saldana-losers_l.jpg?w=300&h=400 http://www.satanjewels.com/naomizoe.png
Example Narrative: The phone had been ringing non-stop. Charlotte had been on the phone this entire time, and at that moment when the sound of Craig's voice beckoned her into the office, she wished that she could physically split into two people so that one could stay on the phone and one could go see what Mr. Reese wanted. She really didn't want to go out there. Those meetings with her boss were hardly her favorite time of day. More like the exact opposite. So after putting the latest phone call on hold, she told her boss politely that she'd be in there as soon as she could, but that she was entirely too busy. Just as she had picked up the phone to finish whatever conversation she was having, Craig piped up again, all too demanding. In fact he was down right pissed off. Go figure.
Trying to ignore him, Charley put her best nice voice on and quickly jotted down the next appointment before hanging up. The same moment, as she hung up, the phone started ringing again. With a sigh, and grumbling something under her breath, she went to go figure out what the hell he wanted. Maybe she should let him have a taste of Ruby. That might get him to shut up. the switch was easy, it was like shedding skin. When Ruby waked into his office, he looked at her like she was a big plate of chicken, like in one of those cartoons.
"You rang?" she asked, leaning up against the door frame, with a smirk on her face.
He got up from his seat and went over to her, clearly intent on taking advantage, especially if he had to take what he wanted from her. Just as he grabbed onto her again, holding onto her hip and leaned in with his face pressed against her neck, Ruby shifted again. Charlotte growled and gave him a shove. "Hands off, sir. Next time when you bug me for no reason, don't." Promptly turning around, she headed back to her desk.
Time for more phone calls. |
